NAKSHAMI

ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN. COMPLETED, 2017

The project brief was to design a G+2 residence for a family of six. The main challenge with this design was to maximize the space within the house while maintaining a garden along the front facade, all within the constraints put forth by vaastu. The house consists of three levels tied together by a double height courtyard space. The skylight above the court designed with a water body below, reflects the light flowing into the space which weaves an interesting pattern of light and shade. The unique wall feature that continues onto the skylight further adds to this element. At level 1, the garden, living, dining, open kitchen and the court coalesce to form one continuous vast space. The dining further extends out into a small landscape pocket with a skylight above. Level 2 consists of the family room and 3 bedrooms. Being a corner site ensures that all rooms are well ventilated with the master and kid's bedroom opening out to spacious balconies overlooking the landscape around. Level 3 consists of leisure spaces that open out to the terrace.
