Welcome to Design Kacheri!
We are an architecture studio based in the vibrant city of Bangalore. Founded in 2011, the firm is the brainchild of two passionate architects, Nidhish Kurup and Chaitra Saraf. With a firm belief that the evolution of good design is as important as the final product itself, we take a heavily client-centric approach in our design process. This results in bespoke solutions tailored to the unique requirements of our clients and designs that are contextual.
At Design Kacheri, we like to keep things simple. Simple designs that are elegant and purposeful, and simple processes that help achieve complex targets. Sustainability is at the core of what we do. Our commitment goes beyond standard building ratings—we focus on creating designs that are sustainable throughout the entire life cycle of the building, from construction to operation. We take pride in employing, training, and empowering local labor, ensuring that our projects have a positive impact on the communities we serve. Our designs are rooted in context and tradition, yet forward-thinking. We adapt and reinvent old construction techniques and craftsmanship to meet current needs, blending the best of the past with innovative solutions for the future.

THE FOUNDERS
NIDHISH KURUP & CHAITRA SARAF
Nidhish and Chaitra are dedicated to creating socially responsible and environmentally conscious architecture. Their designs aim to resonate with the people and place, striving for a seamless integration with nature or allowing nature to take precedence. They are passionate about experimenting with materials and techniques, often collaborating with artisans and craftsmen to enrich their projects. Their design approach has always been to prioritize the building’s full life cycle, from materials and construction to energy use and operational impact, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint while fostering harmonious interaction with the surrounding environment.
